Girish Karnad the veteran playwright,actor ,film and theater personality passed away at the age of 81 on Monday 10 June 2019 in Bangaluru.
His soul may rest in peace. Girish Raghunath Karnad was recipient of Jnanpith Award in 1998 the highest literary honor conferred by the Govt.of India.He was also awarded by Padmashri and Padmabhushan by govt. of India.He won four film fare award. Three film fare award for best Director in Kannada and fourth film fare is best screenplay award.
He worked in south Indian cinema and Bollywood,also in Marathi film.Girish Karnad is known as a playwright. His plays written in Kannada ,have been translated into English and some Indian languages.Kannada is his language of choice.
