Sushama Swaraj

Former External Affairs Minister of  India Susham Swaraj was passed away on Tuesday   6 August 2019 at AIMS Hospital, New Delhi.

Sushama Swaraj was an India veteran politician and  a Supreme Court Lawyer. She was one of senior leader of Bharathiya Janata Party. During 2014-2019 she served as Minister of External Affairs of India in Narendra Modi Govt.
Sushama Swaraj was the second women to hold the position after Indira Gandhi.
She was elected seven times as a Member of Parliament and three times as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. 
In 1977 she became the youngest cabinet minister of Haryana. She also elected as 5th Chief Minister of Delhi in 1998.
Susma Swaraj was called "Best loved politician" by the US daily Wall Street Journal.

Girish Karnad

Girish Karnad the veteran playwright,actor ,film and theater personality passed away at the age of 81 on Monday 10 June 2019 in Bangaluru.

Three film fare award for best Director in Kannada and fourth film fare is  best screenplay award.

He worked in south Indian cinema and Bollywood,also in Marathi film.Girish Karnad is known as a playwright. His plays written in Kannada ,have been translated into English and some Indian languages.Kannada is his language of choice.

George Fernandes

George  Mathew Fernandes, statesman, journalist,  freethinker, the former great  Defence minister of India passed away at the age of 88 on  Tuesday 29 January 2019.

 Brief History of George Fernandes 

George Fernandes was born on 3 June 1930 in Mangluru in Karnataka. His mother was a great admire of King George v ( how was also born on June 1930 ) hence she named her first son George.

In 1949 George came to Bombay in search of job. Fortunately he came into contact with veteran union leader Placid D'Mello, and the socialist Rammanohar Lohia, who were the greatest influences on his life. He  joined the socialist trade union movement. Then he become a successful  trade union leader.
In the 1950s and 1960s he organised many strikes and bandhs in Bombay while working with Indian Railways.
 He was offered a party ticket for the Bombay South constituency by the Samyukta Socialist Party against the more popular S. K. Patil of the Indian National Congress in Bombay. S. K. Patil was a seasoned politician, with two decades of experience. Nevertheless, Fernandes won by garnering 48.5 per cent of the votes, thus earning his nickname, "George the Giantkiller". The shocking defeat ended Patil's political career.
He organised the 1974 Railway strike, when he was President of the All India Railwaymen's Federation. Fernandes went underground during the Emergency era of 1975, while challenging Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for imposing a state of emergency,but in 1976 he was arrested and tried in the infamous Baroda dynamite case.

In 1977, after the Emergency had been lifted, Fernandes won the Muzaffarpur seat in Bihar in absentia and was appointed as Union Minister for Industries. During his tenure as union minister, he ordered American multinationals IBM and Coca-Cola to leave the country, due to investment violations.

He was the driving force behind the Konkan Railway project during his tenure as railway minister from 1989 to 1990.

 He was a defence minister in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government (1998–2004), when the Kargil Warbroke out between India and Pakistan, and India conducted its nuclear tests at Pokhran

A veteran socialist, Fernandes has been dogged by various controversies, including the Barak Missile scandal and the Tehelka affair. George Fernandes won nine Lok Sabha elections from 1967 to 2004.

Shivakumara Swamiji

Super centenarian Shivakumara Swamiji, Padma Bhushan awarded,an Indian spiritual leader,humanitarian, educationist. popularly known as "Nadedaduva Devaru"(Walking god) in Karnataka passed away on Monday 21 January 2019 at the age of 111in Tumkur near Bangluru in Karnataka.God may rest his soul in peace.

Shivakumar swami was a noted religious figure and humanitarian how headed the Siddagangaa Mutt in Tumkuru which has been providing free education ,free hostel and free food to thousand of  poor children  from a different parts of state  for a decades.

He was also founder of many educational institutes which offer courses in traditional learning as well as modern science and technology.    

 Award and Recognition 

In 1965 he was awarded with an honorary degree of doctor of Literature by Karnataka University.
In 2007 on his Centenary the Government of Karnataka awarded the prestigious Karnataka Ratna award the highest civilian award of state.
In 2015 the  Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan.

Kishore Pradhan

The veteran Marathi actor Kishore Pradhan has died at the age of 86 on 12 January 2019.He worked in both Marathi and Hindi films as well in Marathi Theater.
He was famous for his role in Sanjay Datta starrer Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Jab We Met.
